Change the point of view, the first step.
Nowadays the economic boarders are disappearing, Colombia has signed a good deal of international trades, among them we can find the one with the European Community, Canada, the EFTA and so on, and also we've got different commercial trades in South America and Central America, and an important business opportunity with China which is actually the second economy. However, it seems that there's a lot left to learn as well as a great opportunity especially in Communication and Transnational Conflict Shifting.
Why is it a problem? If Colombia hadn't signed those commercial trades it'd be isolated and suffering a economic convolution, but the real problem is that we may need a different view of how the Communication and the PR (Public Relations) really work.
Communication and PR give us a tool to work with, because they help us to know who is our client, how is the other, who am I going to work with outside the country or region, and here is the opportunity in the future and present for us, but first, we must realize this for the education has a giant gap between theory and the real world.
Colombia's divided in regions and here we think these regions are the world itself specially by those organizations with a poor sense of the future and lack of view and the incorrect use of the Communication, why is that so? first, we do not have enough employment for everyone therefore, here everyone's struggling to keep their jobs and thinking in the day to day, that is, we do not have the stability to create an administrative model nor the professionals to propose a change without being afraid to do so.
Colombian economy's got to change this, otherwise, we're going to be a developing country forever.
This may sound easy but is the hardest thing to do 'cause the organizations here have been working like this, therefore, they do not realize why this change has to be. PR professionals and communicators, here we have our first challenge. We must serve as management advisors then we have got the power to influence the decisions and must not be afraid of this.
